Ilam is an urban municipality out of four urban municipalities of Ilam District, which is in the hilly region of Province No. 1. Ilam also acts as the headquarters of Ilam District. Ilam Bazaar is located about 700 km east of Kathmandu. Geographically it lies in the hill region which is mostly known as Mahabharata range. It is cold and freezing in the winter,mild warm in summer and fogg in the monsoon season. One of the major place in Nepal for tea-production. It is famous for natural scenery and landscapes, tea production, and diverse agricultural economy. It is one of the major horticultural crop production districts of Nepal.



Ilam is small hill town with pristine landscapes of sloped tea garden, natural forests, holy sites and unique culture. Ilam offers an excellent getaway from city life, for romantic sunrise and sunset views, a brisk walk in the nice tea garden, sightseeing place, short trek and many more.

Ilam is known as the “Queen of Hills” Surrounded by green tea garden, the hilly district of Ilam lies in Mechi Zone. The former name of Ilam is Charkhola for being at the centre of four rivers – Mailkhola, Jogmai, Puwamai and Daumai. The people residing on the outskirts of the district still call Ilam as Charkhola. Ilam is a very popular tourist destination among internal and foreign tourists for having face to face experience with natural beauty, biological diversity and ancient tradition. The tourist love to call Ilam “heaven on earth”. Everyone enjoys the lush-green tea garden, lovely view of Himal and the healthy and clean environment of Ilam

Drive to Ilam Bazar by night bus reach next day in Ilam, Overnight in Hotel We take night bus to drive 700km to Ilam Bazaar from Kathmandu, 15 hours to Ilam, Overnight in Ilam Bazaar Hotel on day 02.

: Antu Danda day tour, overnight at hotel. Antu Danda is situated at an altitude of 1677m in Illam District. It is famous for its unique views of Everest and Kanchenjunga. It is the best point for viewing sunrise and sunset. There is a motor able road from Illam to Chhipitar. Hiking along green hills takes 3 hours, overnight at hotel.

Mai pokhari day tour, overnight hotel. Mai Pokhari is located at an altitude of 2438m. It is famous place of pilgrimage in Illam district. It lies at about 13 kilometers north to Illam Bazaar. Altogether there are nine ponds in the area some of which are large enough for boats. This place will be nice to visit during ‘Harisayam Ekadashi’ when a one-night fair is held. Mai Pokhari can be arrived in 3 hours from Illam Bazaar in vehicles. We can observe villages like Chureghanti, Bakhaute, Dharpani and Hasbire Bhanjyangon the way with a view of the snowy peaks towards north, transfer to hotel.

Kanyam and Fikkal tour. Wake up early in the morning These places have large tea land and these tea plantation areas are famous among tourists for picnicking, sightseeing and taking photographs. Note: Option for day 05, you can visit Chhintapu/Gajur Mukhi; Chhintapu is the second highest peak in Illam district. The area has rich forests of Rhododendron, medicinal plants and various species if the birds. We can find about 11 types of Rhododendron in this area. Yarcha gumba and rare animals like red panda and musk deer is also can be seen in this area. The peak cab can be reached by trekking for 4 hours from Illam Bazaar. Gajur Mukhi is on the banks of Deumai Khola which is west of Illam.

: Drive to Kathmandu transfer to hotel on day 7. In the Evening drop to Bus Park on way journey to Kathmandu 15 / 16 hours by tourist bus. You will be here in Kathmandu on the evening of day 07.
